BISMARCK—Melissa Dixon, president of Dixon Insurance, Inc. (www.dixoninsurance.com), was elected as the president of the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association at their annual convention held May 24-25. She is the first female president of the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association.

The North Dakota Motor Carriers Association (NDMCA) is a state trade association with the mission to promote highway safety, deliver services and provide representation for motor carriers. Melissa has been active with NDMCA for over 20 years, holding a number of leadership positions before being elected president.

Melissa is president of Dixon Insurance, Inc., and its sister organization, Interstate Truck Licensing (ITL). Both businesses cater to the trucking industry and are dedicated to the success of their customers, partners, and team members. She is well-versed with the needs of the trucking and brokerage industry and has been consulting to these industry partners for more than 20 years. Melissa assists with the risk management needs of Dixon’s insurance customers, and compliance and tax needs of ITL’s clients.
Melissa is a licensed ICC practitioner and property-casualty insurance agent. She has been involved in the transportation industry since 1984. She began her career with National Car Rental and Alaska Airlines while living in Juneau, Alaska. Melissa earned her ICC Practitioner's License in 1991, and her insurance agent and broker's licenses in 1989. She has held several offices in organizations catering to the transportation industry, such as: SE Vice-President of CATRALA Alaska, President of the Fargo-Moorhead Transportation Club, President of the ND Independent Insurance Agents Association (NDIIA) and President of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals (ATLP), Annapolis, Md.
